Tucson Body Lift
Providing Shape and Tone
A body lift is a procedure designed to improve the form and tone of the underlying tissue that supports skin and fat. Excess skin and fat are removed from around the body, and the procedure can also improve a dimpled, irregular skin surface.
Body lifts can be focused on the following areas:
- Abdomen—locally or extending around the sides and into the lower back area
- Thigh—outer, inner, posterior, or the circumference
People who may have experienced significant fluctuations in weight, sun damage, pregnancy, or genetic predisposition to poor tissue elasticity could experience sagging in the above areas. A body lift can help tighten these locations. The only thing body lifts can’t do is remove excess fat. Only liposuction can remove fat deposits where the skin has good elasticity and is able to conform to new body contours. In cases where the skin has poor elasticity, your surgeon may recommend body lift techniques with liposuction.

Is a Body Lift Right for You?
Candidates for body lifts vary. In general, however, those who may wish to pursue a body lift include the following:
- People with significant soft-tissue looseness in one or many areas of the body
- Healthy people without medical conditions that may impair healing or increase surgery risk
- Individuals with a positive outlook and realistic goals for what a body lift surgery can accomplish
- People committed to a healthy lifestyle with proper nutrition and fitness
How Does It Work?
The body lift procedure is a surgery that involves extensive incisions around the focus area. Cut length and pattern will depend on the amount and location of excess skin needing to be removed, in addition to medical judgment. More modern surgical techniques allow these cuts to be placed in strategic places where they can be hidden with most types of clothing and swimsuits.
First, your surgeon will administer anesthesia for your comfort, so you do not experience any distress during the surgery. The choices might include intravenous sedation and general anesthesia. Next, your surgeon will make an incision similar to a bikini pattern to tighten the groin, waist, thigh, buttock, and abdomen in one procedure. This incision will help your surgeon remove a length of excess skin and fat so he can reposition and tighten the remaining tissue. Liposuction may be used to improve contour. Closing the incision will require deep sutures within the underlying tissues to help form and support the newly shaped contours. Your surgeon may use skin adhesives, tapes, clips, or sutures to close the cut.
